Summary: Snorkeling in Alaska was absolutely unforgettable! Melody and Alex were phenomenal guides—professional, knowledgeable, and so much fun. They made us feel completely comfortable and safe in the cold waters, and their passion for the unique Alaskan marine life really shone through. The owner, Fred, was just as spectacular—warm, welcoming, and clearly dedicated to creating a one-of-a-kind adventure. The whole team worked seamlessly to make this excursion smooth and memorable from start to finish. I never imagined snorkeling in Alaska could be so magical—crystal clear waters, fascinating sea life, and an experience you truly can’t find anywhere else. If you’re even thinking about it—do it! This was hands-down one of the highlights of our entire trip.

Summary: What a fun thing to do!!! We had a great time from time of booking on the phone with Fred, all the way to being dropped off in town after snorkeling and hot showers. The girls were so helpful and with smiles sharing their knowledge about the sea life as well as kind. I would do this again if I lived closer ;)) Thank you for the great memorable afternoon ❣️

Summary: Great impulsive snorkel! I snorkel for a lifestyle both at home in Bermuda and around the world. However, this excursion from Holland America ship did not surface. I heard of Drysuit snorkels in Sitka but that was it. So when I found snorkel Alaska on Viator I was thrilled to jump in (albeit without my Olympus tg6). Feed was kind enough to send me a few GoPro shots. On with the snorkel… Fred and Mel are very accommodating and knowledgeable. Went out Mountain Pass at high tide. Not that I had a choice of tides but if you do, choose low tide. Note: I spend 90% of my snorkeling life in 10 feet or less. Visibility was good. Water was not cold with the 7mm on. Saw loads of sea-stars of varying types. Urchins. Hermit crabs galore which were fun to watch walking all over the place. Larger crabs (unsure of kind), sea cucumbers (burrowing and non burrowing), some fish. No seals or whales on this excursion but rumors of some. Bay was calm. Not much current but I can see that closer to channel there would be some to contend with. Souvenir shirts for sale so bring money or credit card. I have worn my long sleeve tee lots already. Wish I had looked up “what to see” before the trip as I know I missed so much unique life in the bay. Thanks for the memories. Super long comment but hopefully helpful.

Summary: This experience was amazing. We saw so many different wild life and got to hold a few things. The instructors were great and helped everyone and were very attentive. They made sure to explain everything and most importantly that everyone was having fun. I would do this again.

Summary: Everyone thought we were crazy for going snorkeling in Alaska? BUT it was AMAZING! Hendo and Melody took such good care of my husband and I. I was a little nervous and they both gave me a little extra TLC! Both of our guides were so knowledgeable and we could tell that they loved their job! We got to hold starfish and a sea cucumber, then Hendo comes up with a gigantic starfish for us to see and hold! He then carefully returned that huge thing right back where he found him. The warm showers afterward felt so good! And bonus, they have the BEST hot chocolate! It was a great day!

Summary: Highly highly recommend this experience. My partner and I have been in Ketchikan over the summer for fishing work and have had the opportunity to do a lot of things around town. Snorkeling with this company was by FAR both of our favorite things we’ve done here. The whole process of booking is smooth and easy, and instructions are very clear on where to go. Once in the water, it was like a whole new world. Melody, one of our guides was very kind and pulled up sea stars, urchins, cucumbers, etc. and taught us about them while we passed them around. The next parts were magical… we got to see a humpback whale feeding very close to us. And there was an adorable seal harbor that seemed very intrigued by us, he was almost playing hide and seek popping up by different people! Both Fred and Melody were incredibly kind and informative the entire time, we could not have asked for a better experience! (Don’t forget to tip your guides!!!)

Summary: An absolutely incredible experience! We were visiting on a cruise with my parents and everyone had an incredible time! From the initial inquiry call, booking, and excursion itself, everyone was incredibly kind and informative! My parents had a wonderful time too (we were a little worried) and Fred even took my GoPro down to capture footage of a Wolf Eel! 10/10 experience, highly recommend!

Summary: I want to thank Snorkel Alaska and owner Fred Drake for the most incredible and fun experience in Ketchikan. We were greeted with such a warm welcome just off the ship and taken to the snorkel shop. Hoods, boots, gloves, suits and masks were provided. The snorkel location was amazing where we saw starfish, sea cucumbers, sea urchins and the guides were very enthusiastic to share their knowledge. The water was chilly but with all the proper equipment we were able to snorkel for over an hour. After we were back to the shop to warm up with showers and a warm beverage. I am VERY thankful for this memorable experience. It's a MUST DO experience if you visit Ketchikan!!
